Millar will show her Maine Coon, a popular domestic breed native to the state of Maine (it's the official state cat). It is one of the largest breeds and is known for its rectangular body and long, flowing coat.

Her cat, Koontyme Jus A Lil Main Iac, or "Jesse" for short, is a Quad Grand Champion and has placed second and third before in the South Central Region.

"When I started to show cats in '99, I wasn't familiar with a lot of breeds," Millar said. " ... Some people have never seen a lot of these cats."

Millar said feline fanciers who stop by the competition on Saturday and Sunday should expect to see a Sphynx, also known as a Canadian Hairless, a rare breed that doesn't have a coat. The breed got its start in 1966 in Toronto, when a hairless kitten was born and eventually bred more naked cats.

"There's a ragdoll (a blue-eyed cat with a distinctive colorpoint coat), Oriental Shorthairs ... a cat called the American Curl — it's called that because its ears are curled back — Abyssinians, American bobtails, Burmese ..."

Millar also mentioned other breeds, such as Persians and Snowshoes. The Snowshoes were first produced in Philadelphia and are rare because it's difficult for breeders to get the correct coat markings.

This weekend's show, dubbed he A'CAT'emy Awards, also will spotlight a new breed registered with The International Cat Association called the Savannah.
