Five Things: School Rearrangement Plan and More on July 22
1. Superintendent Carol Johnson has a new plan for the schools that involves a little rearranging. This week she made a proposal to Move Boston Latin Academy to the Hyde Park Education Complex, and move the Boston Arts Academy into the Townsend Street building in Dorchester that Boston Latin Academy would vacate. It would allow for the expansion of the Fenway High School , which shares a building with the Boston Arts Academy. BPS plans to hold community meetings so you can weigh in.
2. The Society of Arts and Crafts has some pretty funky functional ceramics by potter Kevin Snipes. Scenes feature contemporary history, and draw on mathematical equations, architecture, molecular imagery and more. Check them out here or visit the 175 Newbury St. gallery during business hours (weekdays and Saturday, 10 a.m. - 6 p.m.)
3. The Boston Landmarks Orchestra holds a free concert on the Hatch Shell , every Wednesday at 7 p.m. through Aug. 31. On Aug. 3, American Sign Language interpreters will be on hand as part of “Breaking Down Barriers” initiative to remove barriers for people with visual, hearing and mobility impairments to attend concerts and make it a positive and welcome experience.

5. The heatwave will continue today into Saturday, but will likely break on Sunday as a cold front from Canada moves into the region, according to the National Weather Service .

Paul Eugene Neagle, MD Died on July 18 at the age of 86 in Newbury Park, California. He was born on November 21, 1924 in Pershing, Iowa, one of six children. He attended Creighton University and was elected to the Phi Beta Kappa Society.

So far in July, the Quakes played in the Cal Sparks NCAA viewing-tournament and placed fourth out of 12 teams in the 17u Open Division-West Bracket. Also, played in the Ventura Seaside High School Tournament, going 1-3 with a win over Birmingham and close losses to Santa Barbara and Saugus.
In June, the Quakes played in Salesian Force's 17u Open Division and went 2-2 to take fifth out of eight. Also, played in Swoosh's Santa Barbara tournament and went 2-1 in the varsity Gold Division.
In May, played in West Coast Premier's tournament in the 15u Division and took second out of 16.
Needless to say, this team is high school ready right now.
