Hearth and Home: Guidelines to Marriage and Family
In I Peter 1:13-16, the Scripture says, "Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ; As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance: But as He which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy."
God has spoken in this passage to all those who profess Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. He has spoken with regard to the manner in which every believer is called to approach the challenges and opportunities of life. This pursuit of holiness is to be first evident in the home as it is also to dictate the rest of life's activities.
The home however is the proving ground of faith in motion. We will return to this concept in a moment, but first we must understand that to "gird up the loins of your mind" means to stand prepared for action so that when the tribulations and obstacles of life come, the one on whom they call will be ready to respond appropriately to every circumstance.
This "girding" requires constant diligence on the part of the believer who strives to exercise real proven and tested faith in Jesus Christ. This preparation involves faithful study and reading of God's Word in conjunction with a persistent attitude of prayerfulness.
People fall into sin when they do not prepare for that which is sure to come. This preparation also demands a "letting go" of the problems of life, for as one continues in preparation throughout life, one also learns to "hope to the end" for God's grace. This "hope" translates a Greek word meaning, "to anticipate" as in awaiting the benefits of prayerful seeking of God's will in life.
All too often, people pray very sparingly and take offense with God concerning the anxiety, fear, and worry with which they are encumbered. To anticipate means to expect that God will answer in His time and according to His eternal purposes. This anticipation requires that the believer relinquish the grip they may feel that they are required to hold as they are called to give all problems to God.
Christians are called to rest in Christ rather than worry over things of which they have limited or no control. God is Sovereign. Resting in God's grace means to forsake worry, fear, and anxiety by reposing in God's merciful love and provision. The ultimate "hope" and "expectation" comes when Christ returns to settle all accounts and reconcile all injustices. We must realize that the books will not always be balanced in this world of sin, but there is coming a day when Jesus the Christ will do so. Contrary to the ways of man, Christ will not miss anything which is out of sync with the standards of God.

But that won't slow him down from jawing online. "Sometimes I do say some controversial things, but it's how I feel about a certain situation," he said. "But, to me, it's all in fun. You know that every day I give about 10 birthday shoutouts?

This season won't have all that time to spend. Many coaching staffs won't see their roster for the first time until training camp opens, meaning they have a limited time to work with any new players. This will give veteran players an edge in their
Assoluta Tranquillita: Some Gave All: Lance Corporal Paul Watkins
Lance Corporal Watkins was from Port Elizabeth in the Republic of South Africa, and was born on 11 April 1987. He joined the Army in September 2007 as a Foreign and Commonwealth soldier and attended basic training at the Army Training Regiment in Winchester before joining the 9th/12th Royal Lancers (Prince of Wales's). A determined and intelligent soldier, he completed his special-to-arm training at Bovington, the home of the Royal Armoured Corps, before joining his new regiment in Hohne, Germany. "Lance Corporal Paul Watkins was absolutely someone you'd want on your team and by your side; tough, hugely dependable and determined, yet compassionate. When all around him was frenzied activity Lance Corporal Watkins would be serenely and reassuringly calm. And combined with his arid sense of humour and his disarming grin, a big problem very quickly became no problem at all. "Born in South Africa he'd joined the 9th/12th Royal Lancers for the adventure - and by God did he find it, even in the relatively short space of time that he had been with the regiment. This was a mature and vibrant young man, who lived his life to the full and was trusted and respected across the board both in Germany, where the regiment is based, and out here in Helmand. "Lance Corporal Watkins died a hero. Naturally gifted, courageous and a born leader, he worked hard in everything he did to help deliver his part in establishing peace in central Helmand. With a pedigree in mentoring developing armies, he thrived in this environment, developing the trust so critically needed to show the Afghan soldiers the way ahead. With his sack full of talents he was always wanted on everyone's team. "He was larger than life and was achieving all his dreams as a consummate professional on a rapid path to wider success. Lance Corporal Watkins was savagely proud to be a C Squadron soldier, chosen specifically for this specialist role on the back of solid performances on countless training events. He had blossomed as a junior leader, having been promoted to the rank of Lance Corporal. "Without doubt, Lance Corporal Watkins was a great boon to every part of the organisation under which he served. He was a genuine pleasure to be around and will be sorely missed; never a dull moment could pass in his presence. A natural leader in all aspects of his life and a model soldier, others will aspire to achieve what he already has done, both in and out of work.
